Automation Solutions was created in 2005, and initially produced several oilfield switchboard motor controllers and related accessories sold under various brands around the world. More than 10,000 controllers were built, most are still functioning. In 2008 the first Automation Solutions ACE sensor was installed near Chandler, Oklahoma. The ACE sensor with patented electrical protection was rapidly accepted as a new, highly reliable instrument in a market plagued by low reliability sensors. It achieved wide industry recognition and use, currently being used most of the major ESP providers with thousands operating around the world. The ACE sensor line has been expanded to add many features, extended operating conditions and various new, patented technologies. In 2019, Apergy Corp. acquired Automation Solutions Inc. to form ACE Downhole. In 2020, Apergy Corp. merged with Ecolab’s Upstream Energy Business to form ChampionX, continuing the legacy of advanced automation solutions and sensors for the oil and gas industry.
